What I'm Reading For Fun x
Meat Puppets by Hannah Smart

Right now I'm reading Meat Puppets by Hannah Smart. The novel tells several overlapping narratives (one of which is the author herself writing an article on one of its characters) but primarily focuses on protagonist Mitch Larkin as he attempts to establish and maintain what is essentially a human stock market, betting on volatile celebrities and whether they'll "make it big".
Full disclosure: Hannah Smart is a very close friend of mine and I've loved her writing for years. She's heavily inspired by writers like Thomas Pynchon, Don DeLillo, and most of all, David Foster Wallace. So if you enjoy any of the dense, mind-bending works of these authors, then I recommend Meat Puppets whole-heartedly!
What I'm Reading For School x
Now that I;ve finished my exam, my reading load for school is MUCH lighter. However, I'm still doing some reading/research over the summer to prepare for writing my dissertation. As I've stated previously, my dissertation focuses on four books: The Sheltering Sky by Paul Bowles, Wise Blood by Flannery O'Connor, Giovanni's Room by James Baldwin, and Pnin by Vladimir Nabokov

But beside these books, I'm also looking at some secondary sources, namely "Red Scare: Blacklists, McCarthyism, and the Making of Modern America" by Clay Risen and this collection on Existentialism by Walter Kaufmann
